Is a 4 step beauty regimen enough for a 40+ y.o. skin? (Week 4)

February is fast approaching and this post marks the conclusion of my Self-Care Challenge for the month of January. This year, I am endeavoring to create better lifestyle habits, which kickstart with a fitness and self-care challenge. It’s been said that it takes around 21 days to form a habit, and while it does not fit true for all habit formation, it is a good starting point. In 5 weeks, I’ve exceeded that. I have to be honest, I didn’t think I’d stick to this challenge but I did. Yay! This is why I find it helpful to post my journey because it holds me more accountable and more likely to stick to it from beginning to end.

As I have mentioned on my week 4, the tally for this self-care challenge was at $9.50. Since I didn’t change or add any new products to my regimen, the total expense remains at $9.50 to the end. The products I use is still as follows:

  • Morning
    • Philosophy Purity Cleanser
    • Estee Lauder Resilience Lift
  • Evening
    • Philosophy Purity Cleanser
    • Loli Plum Elixir
    • Organic Surge Overnight Sensation Night Cream
  • DIY Coconut Brown Sugar Face Scrub twice a week

This challenge taught me 4 important notes.

  1. It doesn’t take too much effort for self-care to bring about such a wonderful impact on my confindence.
    • I splash water on my face, lather and rub the face wash on my face for about a minute, wash it off, dry, and slather lotion on. It takes less than 5 minutes of my time each time, just 10 minutes of my day for a little bit more of inner happy.
  2. When I take the time to take care of myself, I feel better and it shows.
  3. A 4-step face regimen is indeed good enough for this 40+ skin. Imagine if I attempt a 10-step Korean face regimen! Haha
  4. It’s not too late to reform myself and my habits to create better habits to improve my outlook on life.

Check my Instagram feed for my on going journey in the school of life. What I’ve been up to, how life is treating me, and what’s on my mind, etc. I’d love to connect with you there.

Final Words

Life begins at 40? I’m not sure about that but what I am sure of is that it’s never too late to start something new, or even to pick up where I left off. This challenge is  a success. I was able to develop a habit of taking better care of my self. My pores are smaller, the wrinkles are less defined, and my skin feels so much smoother. I love it! I rewired my brain in treating myself to a few minutes of self-care and I am all the better for it. A month in and I’m not even halfway through my supplies. That’s pretty cool because I want to extend the results these products are currently doing for me without having to fork out extra money in the mean time.

Until next time.

Mabuhay!
