Our skin is the largest organ in the body and up until now, I never paid much attention to mine. I lather lotion on my body without really thinking about it. For my face, I do the same, and I just wash with whatever is handy while I’m in the shower. I’ve been blessed with pretty good genes in that my skin is low maintenance. Thank you mom and dad. At nearly 44 years of age, without much mindful care, my skin has done pretty well weathering time on its own. Oh, I have wrinkles; but, I just never paid it any mind. I prefer simplicity and ease over taking the time to prep myself for outing. So I am taking on a 3-step daily skincare routine to kickstart my 2019 self-care challenge because really I need to take better care of myself. I am hoping that by the end of the month, I will have formed a habit of taking time off my day to give myself more love.
Both my sisters gave me face lotions they absolutely love for Christmas. They’re skin both look much better than mine, of course, because they take good care of it. Now, I know myself enough to know I will need a little bit more than just receiving gifts to use it. Haha. So, I made it as my new year’s resolution – self-care.
For the whole month of January, I will be utilizing the products below for a 3-step skincare regimen to give my face some love. (Not a sponsored post.)
I don’t know much about skincare and so I will try to keep it as simple as possible the first week and add other products when necessary. I still have that Olay microdermabrasion I bought on the cheap a couple of months back I’m already thinking to add to this face regimen eventually, if for anything – to use it to get my money’s worth. It really can just go up from this 3-step. I’ve seen an 11-step facial regimen that’s pretty cool to watch on others but I watch the videos and I wonder would I actually spend the time to do it, let alone buy all that products? It takes a lot of time and money. I’m sure there are plenty of great products out there; but, the questions remains, can I afford buying it consistently? I wonder. So, the challenge is: Would a 3-step beauty regimen be enough for a 40+ year old skin?
Here are the products I will be using for this challenge this week:
- Philosophy Purity cleanser in the am/pm (Btw, my sis gave me this as a Christmas gift 2 years ago. I just started using it.)
- Estee Lauder Resilience Lift with spf in the morning
- Loli Plum Elixir at night (This also does not come with any instruction.)
- Homemade Coconut Oil and Sugar Scrub (To buff off dead skin.)
Let’s see how the combination of these fair on me the first week. This is in comparison to my usual face regimen which is close to nil. I’m thinking my skin will look so good after a week of this stuff! We will have to wait and compare next Monday’s blog post.
My blog theme for this year is Growth. In combination to my Body Declutter Challenge this month, sufficient sleep, a healthy diet, and self-care, I should be on the path of establishing healthy habits to help me tackle whatever life throws at me. I want to feel good inside and out. Wishing you a prosperous 2019.
Until next time.
