How to Get Free Design Courses to Improve your Skills and Blog Site

While I do not get any compensation to promote Lynda.com, I do love to promote free education to empower myself and others.  Lynda.com offers an array of resources that will peak your interest for free courtesy of our city library.  Depending on your locality, you may even have free access to it, courtesy of your local public library.  I took a special interest in the Business category of this site, as I am looking to build up my resume to apply for job positions sometime in the near future.

While I have read success stories about making a decent living off writing, since my blog is fairly new, I am accepting of the fact that it might take me a while to get there.  For now, as a stay-at-home mom for 16 years, I am adding substance to my resume to hide that 16-year gap in my employment history by taking classes.

Lynda.com offers 12 grouped categories and should help me with filling that employment gap.  One of the 12 categories is the site offers is Design.  This should be of special interest to artists, like my kids. Looking more closely, I’m convinced this should be of interest to bloggers as well, as a couple of the topics covered are Digital Publishing and Freelancing.  Freelancing is something that I have an interest in but have not delve into.

I’ve read of successful stories freelancing.  It might be another good source of income for me in the future.  For now, I focus on expanding my writing techniques thru my blog.  I’ll look more into Logo Design, which is covered in this category.  It would be grand to have my own digital art published on my blog site to personalize it a bit.

There is a lot of information to sift thru, to quickly browse thru the availability, press Command + F (Mac) or Ctrl + F (Windows) to search by specific topic or software.

I have an interest in this category since it covers topics that go with writing and blogging. I’m always looking for ways to improve my writing techniques. Perhaps if I learn enough about Web Design, I might be able to turn it to a business to help others.  One never knows until one tries, right?!  The information is there, I just have to use it.

Currently, Lynda.com offers a 1-month free trial.  It’s $29.99/month after the trial expires.
